SsangYong is rumored to unveil the Musso Grand, upgraded from the Musso pick-up with lengthened deck area and enhanced load capacity, at this year’s show. SsangYong has stated that its exterior design was inspired by the element of the ‘dignified motion of nature’, a core principle pursued within the Korean motor company’s philosophy to base its vehicle design appearance off natural form. The new deck, which has 24.8% larger load capacity than Musso, can contain up to 700kg (based on the leaf-spring suspension model). On the inside, it gets an updated cabin and a 9.2-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto. The engineers at SsangYong have taken the improved passenger comfort and luxurious space, implementing increased legroom and elbow room in all accessible areas of the vehicle.
The powertrain is a combination of an e-XDi220 diesel engine and an Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission that provide powerful performance and efficiency. The 4WD system offers the best driving performance in off-road conditions. In addition, the locking differential (LD) system improves the gradability by 5.6 times and towing capacity by 4 times compared to models with the regular differential system. It now has a switchable all-wheel drive transmission.
Musso Grand ensures the safety of the driver and the passengers with technologies including the newly developed ultra-high-tensile quad frame, in addition to 6 airbags including curtain airbags and side airbags.
